Ophthalmologist recommends to wear sunglasses to protect your eyes from sun rays, chemicals , smoke and other elements present in the environment. In a cataract surgery, old eye lenses which are dusty and cloudy are replaced by new lenses which are not used-to to the exposure of light immediately ,  Hence sunglasses enable the patient to see through these new lens and pupil by dimming the overall exposure of light which ensures protection from damage through light.

Also , It enables patient to give rest to their eyes after the surgery , as it impacts the long term functioning of eyes and related organs . Wearing proper sunglasses is necessary for patients in order to safeguard their eyesight from damage
